Egoitz Zalakain and Aintzane Argaiz win the Half Triathlon Vitoria-Gasteiz

Today was the ninth edition of this triathlon

Egoitz Zalakain, Jon Unanue y Beñat Arnaiz they have completed the podium of the ninth edition of the Vitoria-Gasteiz Triathlon in the Half category.

The weather, the public and the circuit are helping to make the triathlon a great party again in the capital of Gasteiz. In the female category the winner was the Gasteiztarra Aintzane Argaiz. After her they have qualified the German Ulrike Schwalbe y Mireia Arrillaga.
 
After the half test, three Gipuzkoan triathletes have won the first three places of the same, the tolosarra Egoitz Zalakain (Tolosa) with a time of 4: 27: 25; Jon Unanue (Zarautz) 4: 27: 56 and Beñat Arnaiz (Aretxabaleta) with a time of 4: 30: 15.

The race, spectacular since the initial gunshot, has had all the ingredients so that year after year it becomes a benchmark in the international Tri field. The average Ironman has begun with the superiority of Oscar Abad, who came first from the water. Egoitz Zalakain did it in second place, and in the section of 90 km of bicycle began his fast comeback, beating the Portuguese Estrangeiro and performing the test on foot in front from the first meter. After him, both Jon Unanue and Beñat Arnaiz traced positions, surpassing among others the Gasteiz player Iban Gil and the Catalan Joan Monguillot. It should be noted that Egoitz Zalakain was third last year in the middle category.
 
Once the finish line was passed, Zalakain was happy and 'surprised' by his victory and by the level he has shown throughout the race. "After the swim I found myself very well on the bike section and I have been very comfortable. Once overcome Estrangeiro and in the last section I have enjoyed a lot of this great triathlon and the gasteiztarra public ".

In Full distance (3,8: 180: 42) the race is in the bicycle test with Ignacio Maeztu, Alejandro Santamaría, Diego Paredes and Pedro Gomes in the first four places in the men's category. The first classified in the long distance are expected to finish the test around 17:30 p.m.
