The double Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee (28 years) and the current world runner-up and double Olympic medalists (silver 2016 and bronze 2012) Jonathan Brownlee (26 years) have chosen the La Nucia Municipal Heated Pool, for the fifth consecutive year, for its excellent and modern facilities to train for more than two weeks, from the 9 to the 25 in January.

In addition to swimming training in the pool of La Nucía, they conduct athletics series through the trail network of the Captivador de La Nucía that joins the Ciutat Esportiva with the CEM Captivador. Fifth preseason

The excellent climate of the area and the excellent sports facilities have made the British triathletes chose La Nucía for this pre-season stage for the fifth time, as they did in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. During the trainings they were accompanied by their coach Liam O'Neil (National Team of Great Britain and the Leeds Triathlon Center).

In this preseason the Brownlee brothers are accompanied by British triathletes Mark Buckingham and sub 23 Gordon Benson, of the British team of Triathlon (Olympic in Rio 2016) and his training partner Harry Wiltshire. As well as British junior triathlete Jack Willis.

Double Objective

The Brownlee brothers set different goals for the 2017 Alistair Brownlee after his Olympic triumph he faces this season with less workload and new challenges "2017 is a post-Olympic year and I want to recover well.

My main objective is the Half Iron Man World Championship (Iron Man 7.3) to be held in September in the United States (Chattanooga), although I will also participate in some of the Triathlon World Series events. "

In 2016 Jonathan Brownlee was runner-up of the World Series, dehydrating and losing consciousness in the last and decisive stage in Cozumel (Mexico). That's why his main goal for 2017 is "to win the World Series of Triathlon, after staying last year very close". The first event in which they will compete will be in the second stage of the Triathlon World Series in Gold Coast (Australia) the 8 and 9 in April.

Spanish rivals

Curiously they emphasize that for their objectives their main rivals will be the Spanish triathletes Javier Gómez Noya (five-time world champion), Mario Mola (2016 world champion), Fernando Alarza, as well as the South Africans Richard Murray and Henri Schoeman “We have been training for five years in La Nucía doing our preseason in January and then we also go several times a year to do different stages.

The reason for coming to La Nucía are its excellent sports facilities, the facilities, the fantastic natural environment that surrounds the sports center to run between mountains, cross country. And also of course the excellent climate that there is in La Nucía throughout the year, which allows practicing outdoor sport every day, both race and cycling without problems "says Alistair Brownlee, Olympic Triathlon champion.

Double Olympic Champion

Alistair Brownlee has been two consecutive Olympic Triathlon champion, being gold in London 2012 and gold in Rio 2016. In addition, the oldest of the Brownlee has been four times world champion: one as a junior in 2006, another in sub 23 and two absolute: 2009 and 2011.
