Ibiza with an eye on the 2018 Multisport World Championship

Ibiza starts its bid to become the headquarters of the European Multisport Championship in 2018. In this way, the Balearic island presents itself with strength to establish itself as a benchmark for international sport.

 

Representatives of the Spanish Federation of Triathlon (FETRI) have moved this March 22 to Ibiza to hold a meeting at the headquarters of the Island Council, in order to analyze and promote the candidacy of the island of Ibiza in order to host an event that will agglutinate the dispute of five championships in the same venue over ten days, in which the different municipalities of the island will charge a leading role. An event that will include continental titles of Duathlon, Acuatlon, Mid Distance Triathlon, Cros Duathlon and Triathlon Cros.

A meeting focused on channeling the island's candidacy as a benchmark for multisport in Europe, which was attended by representatives of the Consell de Ibiza, led by Vicent Torres, President and Director of Tourism and José Hidalgo, President of FETRI, who has been accompanied by its Director of Competitions, Jorge García. An appointment that was also attended by Abilio García, highest representative of the Balearic Federation; Vicent Ribas, delegate of the Balearic Federation in Ibiza, and representatives of the Half Triathlon Association team, Eusebio Noguera Pujol and Andoni Valencia.

The designation of this novel format will take place in Lisbon next May, during the celebration of the European Triathlon Championship. Ibiza offers a solid candidacy, which combines the experience of hosting major sporting events, magnificent venues and all the institutional and organizational support.
