The ITU updates its regulation of Triathlon competitions

In this new version of the regulation disc brakes can be used in races with no Drafting

 

Last month the executive committee of the International Triathlon Federation (ITU) met in Madrid where various topics on calendars, regulations, etc. were discussed.

We recapitulate the most important changes that will be made soon

  • The use of disc brakes has been tested by the ITU but only for competitions with non-drafting
  • There will 6 categories of Paratriathlon instead of 5 that existed now. The PT1 is subdivided, so all categories will be renamed (PTVI Women, PTVI Men, PTS5 Women, PTS5 Men, PTS4 Women, PTS4 Men, PTS3 Women, PTS3 Men, PTS2 Women, PTS2 Men, PTHC Women and PTHC Men)
  • The number of athletes who may participate in the World Series is reduced from 65 to 60
  • At Lóleo Eventos, Grand finale the number of participants from 70 to 75 increases
  • The use of mobile devicesHowever, equipment that can be placed on the ears in competition can not be used
  • Ethe paratriathlon calendar it has been modified to offer tests in two different modalities. 3 Tests will be played next to the World Series, while 4 World Cups of Paratriathlon will be played all over the world, although more tests may be added to the calendar
  • The regulation to fight against technological fraud has been modified
