If a word defines better than any other Triathlon Vitoria-Gasteiz, that word is Passion. A passion that emerges in all corners of the territory and the capital. A passion for a sport and sportsmen that excites and that drags.

He promised the long distance and has not disappointed anyone. The race has been an authentic roller coaster, with changes in the leadership and with a lot of competition for the first positions. It started with Basque dominance, with Mikel Elgezabal and Egoitz Zalakain leading the race ahead of Pedro Gomes. In the third sector was the Portuguese who took the head and aimed for victory until a spectacular Ivan Alvarez has reached the head. The Madrilenian was ahead of everyone, and Carlos Aznar followed his steps. The head trio with Álvarez, Aznar and Gomes starred in a race of real luxury for the delight of the Alava and Alava.

Álvarez, excited

The final victory has corresponded to the 40 years old from Madrid, a man who yesterday was the father of his second son but his relatives did not want to tell him until the end of the test. And the news has reached him once crossed the goal. The man, completely moved, has not been able to repress the tears and has thanked his support to the whole city. "It's my second victory in Vitoria, after last year's, and I promise to return next year. It is an amazing, incredible, unique test, impossible to describe with words ". After the victory in the last two editions, Iván Álvarez goes on to head the capital of the race with capital letters.

The women's podium has been completed by the British Yvette Grice, an incredible podium of a very high level. Brooke Brown, who after winning in 2014, 2015 and 2016, suffered stomach problems and retired in the foot test, wanted to congratulate the winners in the 2017 edition, and has approached the finish line. The girls have starred in, perhaps, the most beautiful and most even race in recent times, with alternation at the head of the race and an exciting finish.
