Ivan Raña and Miguel Ángel Fidalgo dispute the Ironman 70.3 in Budapest

Next Saturday 30 of July the Hungarian capital celebrates a new edition of Ironman 70.3 of Budapest

 

This city brings very good memories for Spanish triathletes, in 2010 Fernando Alarza he was proclaimed junior world champion and Javier Gómez Noya achieved his second world championship. Most recently last year Judith Corachan finished third in IM 70.3 

Ivan Raña y Miguel Ángel Fidalgo they will be the main Spanish tricks. Miguel Ángel comes from winning the MD triathlon of Vitoria and proclaims himself Spain's MD champion in Valencia. For his part, Ivan Raña is having a very quiet season in terms of competitions, highlighting his participation in the IM 70.3 of Palmas in Brazil, the IM Lanzarote and also the European Cup ITU of Madrid. They will also be accompanied by Rubén Gutiérrez, the third Spanish PRO registered.

The competition consists of 1900m in the Danube River, later the triathletes will give two laps to a circuit of 45km that runs parallel to the banks of the Danube to finish with 21km of running, which also run parallel to the river.

In the male category, the main favorites are the local Balázs Csöke, the German Horst Reichel, autraliano Peter Keer and Italian Jonathan Ciavatella, besides Ivan and Miguel Angel who may be fighting with them for the podium.

While in the female category there will be no Spanish PRO representation, German and British are the main favorites to win, as well as the Hungarian ones Csomor y Halász.

PRO and male start list

The test will start the 9: 00h in the "Rolling Start" format and there will be more than 2000 triathletes in contention. To mention that there will also be 32 Spanish age groups, where the participation of the European champion of IM 25-29 in 2015 stands out Marina Leboso, one of the best GGEE in Spain. This Budapest test gives 30 slots for the 70.3 IM 2017 World Championship.
