Javier Gómez Noya 3 of 3, Victoria in Yokohama in an exciting sprint with Mario Mola

In an exciting sprint finale with fellow Spaniard Mario Mola, Javier Gómez Noya has won the third round of the 2014 World Series in Yokohama, placing him in an unbeatable position to revalidate the world title.

Javi was in the lead since swimming, being the first to get on the bike. Initially, a group of about 15 triathletes was formed in which the Brownlee brothers were also, but towards kilometer 20 of the 40 they were hunted by another group of more than 20 triathletes, which was pulled mainly by the New Zealander Davison. In it were dangerous rivals for the last phase such as Mola and the South African Murray, as well as two other Spaniards: Fernando Alarza and Vicente Hernández.

The phase on foot was pro exciting both having more candidates than recent appointments of the World Series. As it usually happens the Brownlee brothers left as if they only had to run a kilometer, but ended up paying dearly for their audacity. Javi followed without giving a meter and towards the kilometer 2 were reached by Mola and Murray. Shortly thereafter, the little Brownlee, Jonathan, began to go down, something that benefited Noya by being the second in the Series' standings. The next to stay was the Olympic champion Alistair, who disputed his first championship date.

Already in the last lap Richard Murray yielded, leaving the two Spaniards in the lead. Mario Mola He pulled hard but I can't pick up Noya, who in an exciting sprint managed to get a body out of him at the finish line: "It has been one of the toughest races I remember. I had to give everything in the last phase and I can not be more satisfied. I congratulate Mola and Murray because they have done a carrerón. It's already three wins and I need two more good results to secure the championship. "  These World Series will have their next appointment in London on Saturday 31 May, in the same scenario of the 2012 JJOO.
