The words of Javier Gómez Noya announcing his resignation from the Olympic Games

The Galician triathlete has published in his social networks the explanation of what happened.

"I'm sorry to have to announce that yesterday, just when I was coming home after a bike training, I had a fall of those we call foolish, no more than 15 km / h with the misfortune of hurting my elbow. I went to the hospital and the imaging tests confirmed a fracture of the head of the radius with displacement.

Today I will be operated.  This diagnosis forces me to renounce the great objective for which I had been working hard all season, the Rio Olympics. Realistically, there is no material time to fully recover and be able to face the competition in good condition, so the most sensible thing is to yield. my place to someone who can do better.

As you can imagine, this is a very hard time for me but I will not make a drama of this, as I will always fight to recover as soon as possible.

I am very sorry for all those who support and encourage me every day but, just as many times I have tasted the sweetest face of sport, now I have to deal with the bitterest. Thank you all from the heart. "
