Javier Gómez Noya sweeps the Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire

The current world champion of the modality, Javier Gómez Noya has once again demonstrated that he has no rival in this distance

 

 

1569 triathletes took the start this morning in Staffordshire (England) to participate in this mid-distance event.

The first to get out of the water were Nick Kastelein and Javier Gómez Noya followed 38 seconds behind Will Clarke, Michael Foz, Romain Guillaume and the Spaniard Miguel Ángel Fidalgo in fifth position 45 seconds behind the heads

Once on the bike Noya imposed a strong rhythm leaving alone, until for some reason at km 50 Javier Gómez Noya went down to third position.

The German Markus Thomschke took the lead with Romain Guillaume in 1: 30 and Noya in 2: 14. From there Thomschke was taking distance to be 3 minutes ahead of his competitors to start the race on foot.

Javier Gómez Noya made a spectacular comeback reaching the head of the race in the first km of the race, until in the 14 km he overtook the German Markus Thomschke in more than 3 minutes and Romain Guillaume in 5 minutes.

Javier Gómez Noya He went solo to get a spectacular victory with a final time of the 04: 02: 14, followed in second position by Markus Tomschke (04: 07: 33) and French Romain Guillaume (04: 09: 07) in third position.
