Javier Gómez Noya Spanish Sprint Triathlon Champion

The Galician has shown his strength in the race by walking away alone to get the victory

The 20: 00 hours was the kick-off for the male start of the Spanish Triathlon Championship.

Javier Gómez Noya was the clear favorite for the victory, although at the starting line they were Nan Oliveras (champion in 2014), David Castro, Emilio Aguayo o Antonio Serrat , who has been doing an exceptional season.

The first to get out of the water was Noya followed by David Castro and Guillén Rojas, and so they came and went from the first transition, with a trio in the lead. But very soon, in the first cycling lap, the trio became a quartet, when Ricardo Hernández joined the group, who also knows this route perfectly and after a brilliant first lap managed to hook up with the leaders.

These four athletes set a very high pace, at more than 40 kilometers an hour, and nobody wanted to get off the hook. Javi and Ricardo worked constantly to increase the distances in a front block that as a whole collaborated in a very coordinated way, constantly relevándose to increase the rents earned.

In this way they arrived at the second transition, with a significant gap on the pursuers and sure that the podium would be between them. And at that moment it was when Gómez Noya showed his superiority and left behind the escape companions, taking the reins from the first bars of this last sector of the race on foot. An unbreakable dominance in a dizzying test that allowed the golden Galician to enter alone and enjoy the affectionate applause of the audience that filled the bleachers of the finish line.

Javier Gómez Noya He was proclaimed Spanish sprint triathlon champion with a time of 55: 02. Shielding to Ferrolane, David Castro conquered the second position (56: 03) and Nan Oliveras was the third classified (56: 10), after doing an extraordinary run on foot in which settled a difference close to the 30 seconds to climb positions to the third final place.

In the sub category 23, was proclaimed champion of Spain David Castro, while second place was Nan Oliveras and bronze fell to Antonio Benito (City of Lugo Fluvial). In the male 23 club rankings, the Spanish champion is Diablillos de Rivas.

At the conclusion of the test, Gómez Noya pointed out that "The idea was to win, but I'm also happy because I had a good race. I am satisfied with the result, for running at home and for the affection of the public. The public of Pontevedra already demonstrated on other occasions that it always responds. I am very grateful to them for being here in this heat, "he told the world champion. Javi wanted to make clear that the title does not win races: "You can never relax and in this race there was a very high level". The Galician already announced that he will also compete in aquathlon tomorrow: "Since we are here, I want to support this event".
