Javier Gómez Noya will not compete on Sunday in Stockholm

Noya has fallen ill and has decided not to compete

The planned participation of the reigning world champion in the appointment of the World Series in the Swedish capital had to be canceled this Wednesday for being sick. Gómez Noya was in Madrid since Tuesday, where he was one of the protagonists of the award ceremony for the Movistar Podium Scholarships, and had planned to fly to Stockholm on Thursday with his coach Carlos David Prieto.

But on Tuesday afternoon he began to feel bad, with early symptoms of fever that have been increasing on Wednesday. Given that Sunday's triathlon was simply another test in his Olympic preparation, in an 2016 in which he only has that goal without caring about the general classification of the championship, competing in bad conditions did not make sense.

After taking the decision, the same Wednesday he traveled to his home in Pontevedra, where he will be recovering peacefully. As soon as he can return to training with intensity, he will return to Lugo, his headquarters in this final phase of the preparation cycle to be at the top in Rio de Janeiro in mid-August.
