Javier Gómez Noya "I arrived leader in the final in Chicago but there will have to be ahead, I do not have anything assured the title"

Although he did not add points for the general, for which he should have achieved victory, the 2º position of Gómez Noya in Edmonton can be considered a great result.

Bearing in mind that he had come to play the previous Sunday the ½ Ironman in Austria, has been able to stand up to triathletes who came to Edmonton having done a much more specific training since the previous round of the World Series in Stockholm.

The atmospheric conditions, less than 10º and rain, added hardness and risk even triathlon by itself hard for the high pace that was going to take. In the swimming phase Javi could not be far ahead, and left the lake to the position 15º; that yes without cut of time with respect to the leader.

During the 1st of the 4 laps on the bike, flat and with some very tight turns, a group of 15 triathletes was formed in the lead, with Richard Murray and Vincent Luis as well as Javi among the favorites; instead no Mario Mola. At the end of the 2nd round they were hunted by the group in which the Majorcan was going, forming a platoon of more than 40 triathletes. From there there were no attacks or, fortunately, falls.

The 2ª transition had great importance and from it came the South African Murray in the lead pulling to the top. Javi did it a little behind but could contact him during the first kilometer. By against Mola and Luis they lost a precious time in the transition, which left them without victory options, given that although they climbed positions they could not cut the disadvantage to the leading duo. Murray always marked the rhythm and managed to take out in the last of the 3 turns a minimum advantage to Gómez Noya, with which he achieved his first victory this season in the World Series.

In spite of not adding points with the 2ª place, Murray's victory is much better for Gómez Noya than if Mola or Luis had done it, given that the South African was much more behind in the general than the Majorcan or French: "the cold has been tremendous and for example running I did not feel the soles of the feet. I was able to keep up with Murray but could not overtake him. I'm happy to have entered in front of Mario Mola and Vincent Luis. I arrive leader to the final in Chicago but there will be ahead, I do not have anything assured the title".

That appointment will be on Saturday, September 19, on Olympic Distance and with a 50% more score than the 9 previous appointments. Gómez Noya (who will stay in North America during these 2 weeks) depends on himself to be the leader: not only would winning give him a new world title without being 2nd or 3rd he would also maintain the leadership. And from that position, it would depend on how the other two contenders for the title, Mola and Luis, were. Richard Murray and Fernando Alarza they also mathematically have final victory options, but for
