Javier Gómez Noya receives the award for Best Sportsman 2015

The Spanish triathlete has been awarded in recognition of a splendid 2015 season in which Gómez Noya has conquered the fifth title of world champion, becoming the only triathlete to achieve this brilliant feat.

 

Javier Gómez Noya has been distinguished with COE award for the Best Sportsman of the 2015. The event took place during the X Gala of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) that was held last night in the Alfredo Goyeneche auditorium at the COE headquarters in Madrid.

The Spanish triathlete has been awarded in recognition of a splendid 2015 season in which Gómez Noya has conquered the fifth title of world champion, becoming the only triathlete to achieve this brilliant feat.

Next to Galician, the badminton player Carolina Marín, She has also been decorated for her unbeatable season with the Best Sportswoman award in this course. An annual COE gala in which all the successes of Spanish sport have been rewarded throughout this season.

During the gala, which was attended by Alejandro Blanco, president of the COE; Miguel Cardenal, president of the Higher Sports Council; the Infanta Doña Pilar de Borbon; Miguel Carballeda, president of the Paralympic Committee; Oscar Graefenhain, General Director of Sports, IOC members Juan Antonio Samaranch and José Perurena, as well as numerous presidents and representatives of the Spanish sports federations, among which was José Hidalgo, president of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI).

José Hidalgo thanked Javier Gómez Noya, "a benchmark of Spanish triathlon and sport." For the president of the FETRI, the award is "a recognition of the excellent career of Javier Gómez Noya. An exemplary athlete that year after year continues to grow as an athlete, achieving new achievements and entering the history of sport in its own right "
