Javier Gómez Noya the triathlete with more European Championships

The new title unravels the tie to three titles with the Frenchman Fred Belaubre and the British Alistair Brownlee

"This gives me a lot of morale ahead of the next triathlons where I hope to be able to run faster".

The Galician triathlete Javier Gómez Noya he got his fourth European title last Saturday in the city of Lisbon that makes it clear that the preparation for Rio de Janeiro is on the right track, forgetting the inconveniences of the early season.

Although compared to Olympic gold, the European title may seem minor, the time and way to achieve it are another example of the quality and delivery of Galician.

A title that is the fourth place in the first position in the list since it is officially disputed at the end of the 80 years: the tie is broken to three titles with French Fred Belaubre and with the British Alistair Brownlee. And the fact that they have spent 9 years since the first title in 2007 makes clear that Gómez Noya is still at his 33 years at the top against much younger triathletes.

"It was very hard as I lacked the rhythm of the competition. On the bike we were very strong in the lead, which I consider was the key, and although I had a bad time in the third phase, I managed to win. This gives me a lot of morale for the next triathlons in which I hope to be able to run faster" comments Javier.

The Galician's next appointment will be in Leeds on Sunday, June 12, in the fifth round of the World Series. There the level of competition will be higher than that of the European one since almost all the candidates for top positions in the Olympic Games will be, with curiously the exception of the other two selected Spaniards: Mario Mola y Fernando Alarza. Until making the trip to Leeds, Gómez Noya will continue training in Galicia.
