Mario Mola wins the Grand Final and Javier Gómez Noya his fifth World title

We have seen an exciting test that was decided between the two Spaniards in the final part

Today has been disputed the test that everyone was waiting for, the Grand Final of the World Series in the city of Chicago, where 5 triathletes opted to get the World title.

The favorite in all bets was Javier Gómez Noya, but Mario Mola, Vicent Luis, Murray or Fernando Alarza they had a chance of getting the title.

The race has not disappointed, since from the beginning it has started very quickly, in the swimming Gómez Noya started a little behind, which helped favorites such as Mola, Luis and the Brownlees to start the cycling segment with a slight advantage that it reached 10 seconds, compared to a group where Gómez Noya and Fernando Alarza were. After hard work, they managed to reach the head of the race forming a group of 33 with all the favorites except Richard Murray who was left off the hook in a chasing group.

The cycling circuit, with a route with many turns of 90º and 180º was demanding and technical.

On the bike, several triathletes tried to break the group making attacks but not getting any,

In the last laps the head group relaxed, allowing Richard Murray to reach them in the absence of a 1 lap to reach the T2.

On the last lap Colucci and Salvisber attacked and managed to reach T2 with about 37 seconds ahead of the favorites. That I reached T2 in a group of 60 triathletes.

From the beginning, the strongest took the lead at a very strong pace to make the initial filter of the race with Noya, Mola, Vicent or Murray that served for Noya and Mola to leave alone in search of fighting for victory . Behind the group of Murray, Luis and Fernando Alarza who would fight for the third final place.

In a beautiful sector of the race where the Spaniards advanced in relays, they increased the advantage until the final part where Noya made several attacks that Mario Mola was holding.

Finally Mario Mola, attacked leaving with great force getting the final victory with a time of 1: 44: 54 followed by Javier Gómez Noya to 4 seconds in second position and Richard Murray finally third to 42 seconds. Fernando Alarza I enter in sixth position.
