Mario Mola with numbers to be World Champion.

Only Javier Gómez Noya and the older Brownlee, Alistair Brownlee have managed to win in 3 or more WTS consecutively.

Since the 2008 year (*) only 3 triathletes have been able to achieve the World Championship, Javier Gomez Noya (5) Alistair Brownlee (2) and Jonathan Brownlee (1)

With the start of the World Series of Triathlon in 2009, the way of contesting the World Championship was modified, from a single day competition to several races in different venues around the world, in the motorcycling world style or F1 .

In this period of time only Javier Gómez Noya and the elder of the Brownlee, Alistair Brownlee have managed to win in 3 or more WTS consecutively. Noya succeeded in 2014 and Alistair in 2009 and 2011. In those seasons they were the world champions.

In 2016, two World Series races have been held (Abu Dhabi and Gold Cost) with victory for Mario Mola in an authoritarian way. (If we add the Chicago Grand Final 2015 Mola would also add 3 WTS in a row). The Spaniard has been the best both in distance sprint in the Emirate of the Persian Gulf and in Olympic distance in Australia.

Within two weeks the WTS of Cape Town are held in South Africa where Mario will have the opportunity to add a third consecutive win ... which would mean having his first world title on track.
