The Galician showed yesterday with an exhibition that can fight for the world in the absence of 2 tests, both in Olympic distance

Meanwhile Mario Mola After winning four World Triathlon Series races so far this year, he could not reach the city of Montreal this time in good condition at the end of the race and fight for victory.

The Spaniard was cut after the first transition, after leaving the water with almost a minute of disadvantage, and accused in the race on foot the wear of the bike 40km. The Mallorcan tried to establish a strong pace in the race on foot, going for all, that finally in the last two kilometers ended up having a strong bill being completely disbanded and entering 14ª position.

"I have not had a good day of competition. These things happen, and first of all I want to congratulate Javier Gómez Noya for his victory today. I fought to the maximum trying to close the gap and finally I was completely empty from so much effort. It was an ambitious challenge trying to reach them but I had to try and I fought until I couldn't anymore"He explained at the end.

The second of the Canadian World Series events could not be solved better for Javier Gómez Noya, since in addition to the victory (second of the season with the one of Abu Dhabi) it has gone up to the second place of the general one surpassing Fernando Alarza and has approached the leadership of Mario Mola since the other two Spaniards did not have a good day and did not score points for the classification.

"I am very happy and proud of how the triathlon has developed. We went to the top of the bike to get an advantage to the third stage and I felt very good and I was able to achieve victory. After a bad result in Edmonton and a week in which I have not been able to train well, here everything went wonderfully".

Fernando Alarza, who does not finish leaving bad luck had mechanical problems on the bike and could not do anything but finish the test as he could, on social networks said:

Fernando Alarza in the Montreal transition

"There are days and weeks in which things are not going to come out as one likes ... today mechanical problems leave me out of everything in the km20 ... I am positive and I think that this streak of bad luck has to happen at some point. Now, the mind more than the body, ask for a few days of total disconnection, forget a few days everything that happened last weeks and return with more ambition and desire than ever"

Despite the bad day, Mario Mola continues to be the leader of the world rankings in the absence of two tests of the World Triathlon Series 2017: Stockholm - 27 in August - and the grand final of Rotterdam - 17 in September where he has the clear objective of To proclaim himself triathlon world champion for the second year in a row.

In principle, the next competition of Javier Gómez Noya will be the 9 of September in the USA, in the World Championship of the Half Ironman distance, one week before the final of the World Series in Rotterdam. Until then he will return to his home in Pontevedra where he will continue with his training for that final phase of the season.
