Mario Mola has 2016 global media in his pocket

Mario Mola is the number one candidate to achieve the 2016 World Championship with his victory in the WTS of Yokohama

The world triathlon is made up of 9 races, the WTS, divided into 8 world series and a great final. It is an indispensable condition to achieve the title run and finish the grand final. In addition to the grand final score, you must add the best 5 results from the remaining 8 WTS and if you do not reach 5 races, you take (up to two) the scores in World Cup races.

At present, 4 WTS (Abu Dhabi, Gold Coast, Cape Town y Yokohama) where Mario Mola has won in three of them and has been 3º in the other, being also the world leader.

Being 2016 an Olympic year several triathletes are focused on the Rio de Janeiro event, this is the case of the current world champion Javier Gómez Noya and from French Vicent Luis (3º of the world in 2015). Both have not played any WTS, so they have very difficult to take the world, because only 5 (4 plus the grand final) and should also run a WC.

The practically identical case is that of Alistair Browlee, who has only run one, but finished very far from the first positions. Therefore, these tough 3 rivals for Mola have very difficult (if not impossible) to take the world title in 2016.

Therefore the main dangers for the Balearic, to date, are Fernando Alarza, the Mexican Crisanto Grajales y Jonathan Brownlee. The younger of the brothers also seems very focused on the Olympics but got two podiums in Cape Town and Yokohama that keeps him with options to continue fighting for the World Cup.

Grajales is a triathlete who is growing year after year, and in Yokohama he got the first podium for his country in a few WTS. By last the toughest opponent for Mola will be Fernando Alarza, the only one who has been able to avoid the Mallorcan full in WTS this 2016, therefore, after the Nox world 3 ... this 2016 everything seems to indicate that it will be a "mano a mano" between Mola and Alarza, that is, that everything would be at home ... of the TRIArmada.
