Less than a month for the Doñana Challenge

The next 24 in September will be held a new edition of Desafío Doañana, a spectacular triathlon that takes place in the National and Natural Park of Doñana.

One of the peculiarities of Doñana Challenge is that you do not start with swimming, but with the cycling sector of 100k m. The competition format is as follows

  • 1st cycling: 100 km
  • 2º swimming: 1 km (individual) 2,8 km (teams)
  • 3º running race: 30 km

Tours:

CYCLING: 100 KM.

The departure will take place at Bajo de Guía Beach in Sanlúcar. During the neutralized start, the cycling peloton will ride for several kilometers through the beautiful town of Cádiz that is home to the mouth of the Guadalquivir. From this point, the start of the race will be launched through which 100 km will be completed by bicycle through the province of Cádiz, passing through Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Trebujena, Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María, Rota, Chipiona and Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

SWIMMING: 1KM (Ind.) 2,8KM (Eq.)

Once the bicycle section in Sanlúcar is finished, the triathletes will have to swim 1 kilometer (2,8 km for the teams) crossing the Guadalquivir river to the Punta de Malandar in Doñana. The mouth of this impressive river presents a curious mixture of freshwater tides from the river itself and salt from the Atlantic Ocean, which makes it very characteristic and spectacular for sports.

RACE ON FOOT: 30 KM.

From the beach of Malandar, we reach the last section that will consist of a race on foot to be carried out entirely by the Doñana Natural Area in a distance of 15 km one way and other 15 km of return.

After the fight with the water and the shock of currents, it is necessary to face the sand of the Doñana beach avoiding dunes, and adapting to the changing sands depending on the rising tide, always looking for the best surface to run.

On the other hand is also celebrated the Doñana Minidesafio for the little ones where they can compete from the 7 to the 17 years.

Pass of escorts

As usual in the event, this year the relatives and companions of the athletes will be able to be closer to them during the day of the competition, if they acquire the Pass of Companions, that allows them a series of advantages with respect to the general public.

  • Access to a reserved area of the competition in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, where you can witness the departure and arrival of the cycling sector, as well as the transition to the swimming sector.
  • Catering service with breakfast and lunch
  • You can cross the Doñana National Park for free on a barge
