Miriam Casillas Spanish Olympic Triathlon Champion

The triathlete from Extremadura, Olympic few days ago at the Rio Olympic Games won her second national title after the one she won at 2014.

 

After Miriam in second position has arrived Anna Godoy, which repeats 2015 result and third has been a brave Sara Perez, which adds his second medal this year, after the silver achieved in the national sprint.

Banyoles hosted a new edition of the championship of Spain, with the best triathletes nationwide in search of doing the best possible in the most important competition of the year.

It all started at 9: 15 AM with good weather conditions, 20º C without wind and humidity around 60%. From the first meters Sara Perez she was in charge of swimming, stuck to her Anna Godoy y Miriam Casillas. It was the first Catalan in the T1 giving time to a group of 6 with Sara, Miriam, Marta Sanchez, Helena Moura Carvalho and Ksenia Levkoska. After them for more than a minute it was a large stretched group of triathletes, with Sara Guerrero y Melina Alonso among others.

In the cycling sector, the head 6 were understood from the beginning, beginning to increase the advantage little by little, when passing through the first round (km 6,6) they already had an advantage of more than 1'30 '' over a group of more than 20 units. Mediated the sector, in km 20 the advantage of the escagadas was of 2'45 ''. In the km 30 Sara Pérez launched an attack escaping along with Miriam Casillas and Marta Sanchez, while passing by the km33 the leading trio had 30 '' advantage over the pursuit trio and almost 4 'over the third group. The three fugitives arrived at the T2 with 1'45 '' on Godoy, Carvalho and Levkoska. At 2'30 '' of them the big group did with Bonilla, Camila, Melina and the rest.

From the exit of the T2 Miriam Casillas she goes alone for the victory and soon opens a gap with her flight partners. At the 3,3 km Miriam was leading with 1 'on Sara Perez and 1'05 about Marta Sanchez and some 30 '' of them was going Anna Godoy trimming distance. When passing through the 6.6 km Miriam in the lead and was second Anna Godoy with a great comeback. Finally clear victory of Miriam Casillas, second position for Anna Godoy and third for Sara Perez. The fourth place was for Marta Sanchez that was proclaimed champion of Spain sub23. Fifth with a large partial walk Sara Bonillasixth Camila Alonso, seventh Ibone Sanchez, eighth Paula Batlle, ninth junior Sara Guerrero sensational in her Olympic debut and closed the top 10 Meritxell Velasco.
