Modified the Regulation of Triathlon Competitions in 2016

An important novelty is the elimination of the technical meeting in the Championships by a control of the signatures.

 

 

The FETRI has published the modifications of the regulations of competitions for this year 2016

Articles 1.2.b) and 1.5: A fork stock of distances is included to define the possibility that the quadriathlon will develop on a mountain bike.

Article 2.5: A modification is made where the technical meeting in the Elite / Sub23 Spanish Championships is no longer mandatory and is changed to a signature control system before the competition to ensure that a possible waiting list can be managed.

Article 2.8.b): It includes the possibility of using the suit with sleeves for medium and long distance competitions, as well as PT1 class paratriathlon.

Article 3.1: The "stop and go" sanction is included, with the aim of removing the penalties for double yellow and involving disqualification, to move to a model where the athlete who receives this sanction, correct the infraction and can continue the competition. This penalty will also apply to cycling without drafting where the athlete receiving a penalty for blocking, must stop in the penalty area, inform the official that he has received a penalty for blocking, and continue the competition.

Article 3.5: Changes in the cases that motivate the disqualification due to the accumulation of cards.

Article 4.2. and 4.3: After a study carried out by FINA and ITU, the limits for the use of neoprene in water are modified and a new table of modifications is established.

Article 4.7: The output launched after the Ironman inclusion of this system is regulated, and the Ironman-ITU coordination meetings to have the same competition regulations.

Article 5.2: Disc brakes can not be implemented yet, until the UCI approves them for all competitions, with a January forecast of 2017.

Article 5.3: The manual review of the bicycles by the officers is eliminated, and it is changed to a visual revision.

Article 5.5: The distances of the drafting are modified, following the Ironman-ITU agreement, passing to 10 meters for competitions without drafting to Olympic distance, and 12 meters for competitions over medium distance.

Article 5.7: Separation to another article from the definition of blocking.

Article 7.1.f) The use of the second pair of shoes in duathlon is clarified.

Article 8.6: A regulation is included for the minimum time difference between male and female outings for competitions up to Olympic distance.

Article 13.2: The relay procedure is clarified, and the relays that are not performed correctly.

Article 14.2.c) (vi): A modification is included in the classification of the TRI7 class paratriathletes.

Article 14.8.c): It is included that PT1 paratriathletes must travel from the pretransition area to the transition area, in a wheelchair for daily use, regardless of whether their disability allows them to use it or not.

Article 14.15: A clarification is made about the use of prosthesis in the race.

Article 14.16: A modification is made on the use of dark glasses for athletes of the PT5 B1 class.

Article 14.16: A modification is made on the swimming behavior of the PT5 class athletes.
