Pieter Heemeryck and Judith Corachan win the Peguera Challenge Mallorca

Immense triumph of Pieter Heemeryck (Belgium) and Judith Corachán (Spain) in the third edition of Challenge Peguera Mallorca, in a day of pure triathlon in Calvià.

The sunny day in Peguera dawned, once again the time decided to ally with the test so that the show was, in addition to being epic, visual. The sea, after a week of changing weather, kept "waves of surf" that made swimming more complicated than expected.

In the men's event, the Spanish Jordi García was the first to leave the swimming sector, in a group formed by the Belgian Pieter Heemeryck, David Bishop (UK) and Henry Beck (GER).

Already immersed in the 90 km of the cycling circuit, the Belgian Heemeryck dominated a technically demanding and winding segment that agglutinated coast, mountain, natural landscapes at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana (World Heritage of UNESCO), crossing traditional villages such as Capdellà, Calvià and some of the most popular tourist centers in Europe such as Santa Ponça or Peguera, as well as El Toro.

The circuit of foot race was developed entirely in the nerve center of Peguera, distributed along four laps that crossed the boulevard of the municipality with the seafront that joins the beaches of Palmira, Torà and La Romana, with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.

The section of run was decisive, with an intractable Heemeryck, the unknown was to know who would be the other two companions of podium. The comeback of Julian Mutterer (GER) took him to the second position, while the third place went to Jordi Garcia Gracia (ESP) with a large run sector.

Pieter Heemeryck (BEL): 03: 56: 02

Julian Mutterer (GER): 03: 58: 41

Jordi Garcia (ESP): 03: 59: 20

Judith Corachán, a perfect career.

Catherine Jameson (UK) and Judith Corachán maintained an impressive duel in the first two sectors, coming out almost together from swimming and keeping just a few seconds away for much of the circuit, followed by Nicole Walters (UK).

When arriving at the race on foot, Catherine Jameson could not maintain the duel and Judith, conserving a rhythm of so high race was raised with the victory. The second classified was the Italian Sara Dossena, who climbed positions in the race on foot after getting off the bike in seventh place.

Finally, the Spanish Sarah Loehr, champion of Challenge Peguera 2015, practically maintained the position in which she had left the bike (4ª), and in a splendid final section she finally completed the podium in third place.
