Cape Town World Cup curtain opens

The 2017 ITU Triathlon World Cup season officially kicks off this weekend in Cape Town, South Africa

This 2017 circuit of the World Cups will travel a total of 16 cities all over the world.

Previous male 

The South African Olympic medalist Henri Schoeman will come out with the number one on the starting line. Schoeman was a bronze medalist at the Olympic Games in Rio and then won his first World Series gold medal at the Grand Final in Cozumel.

It will also be necessary to take into account his compatriot Richard Murray who was fourth in Rio, winner in the New Plymouth World Cup and one of the best cyclists and runners on the WTS circuit. Other trialetas to consider are Drew Box (AUS), Thomas Springer (AUT) and Matthew Sharpe (CAN) have already tasted the joy of climbing to a World Cup podium, although none has won the gold. 

As for the Spanish participation will participate Antonio Serrat y Jesús Gomar which will run on the ITU team and which plans to be nationalized with Georgia.

Previous female 

Women run on Saturday, where the Japanese Ai Ueda will leave with the number 1 after having finished 2016 in the third position of the ITU Rankign. Ueda has won six World Cups throughout her career, being the most recent in Miyazaki (Japan) at 2016. It is also the biggest threat this Saturday given its consistency and speed.

Other triathletes to consider are the Japanese  Juri Ide, Rachel Klamer (NED) winner of the world series in Hamburg 2016 or the British Lucy Hall y Jessica Learmonth 

There is no Spanish in the list of departure
