The second edition of KM0 Triathlon comes with the novelty of the inclusion of a medium distance test in the city of San Lorenzo del Escorial in Madrid.

Swimming

75 Kilometers from the capital, surrounded by holm oaks, oak groves and pine forests, located in the Lozoya Valley and in the middle of the Sierra Norte, is one of the most charming and attractive Madrid towns, Buitrago del Lozoya. The distance to be covered by the triathletes in the Riosequillo Reservoir in Buitrago de Lozoya will be 1.900 meters. T1 will be set up in said facility, the transition place from where the bike race will start.

Cycling

The bike test in addition to recovering wonderful sites of the Sierra Madrileña, also recovers the famous return to the ports with the ascents of Canencia, Morcuera and Cotos. In general, the 110 km will cover the following places:

Exit from the Riosequillo de Buitrago de Lozoya reservoir, passing through Villavieja de Lozoya (km 6); San Mames (km 9,9); Choker (km 13,7); Canencia town (km 22,8); Port of Canencia (km 32,3); Miraflores de la Sierra (km 38,4); Puerto de la Morcuera (km 49,1); Rascafría (km 63,4); Port of Cotos (Km 79,9); Puerto Navacerrada (km 86,4); Ventorrillo Fountain; El Escorial and arrival at the Lonja del Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

In the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the T2 will be set up, a transition place from where the Marathon of San Lorenzo de El Escorial KM0 - MD will be held.

The bicycle tour of San Lorenzo de El Escorial KM0 - MD is a real challenge for its 3 ports that take the triathletes for all the beauty of the Sierra Madrileña reaching a total height of approximately 3.000 meters.

T2 of San Lorenzo de El Escorial KM0 - MD will be located in an unbeatable enclave. The Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial which has been classified as the Eighth Wonder of the World.

In it converges a solid synthesis of styles that mark the passage of the Middle Ages to the Modern Age, but without abandoning the stable and harmonic basis of classicism. There is much in the construction of the psychology of Philip II, a king applied to his task of governing with responsibility, prudence and greatness, but in a novel way that transforms this activity into a professional.

The monastery is a mythical building, which had great influence on the Spanish architecture of later times. Over several centuries, its external aspect of the building has not changed substantially. At present the founding assets of the monastery belong to the National Heritage, an organization that is responsible for its conservation.
