Last year's champion, Flora Duffy, suffered a fall in the cycling sector causing her mechanical problems on her bike and forcing her to retire

After the men's event where the South African Henry Schoeman has achieved the triumph and Mario Mola It was the second time it was the turn of the girls where 9 of the 10 best triathletes last year took the start.

Flora Duffy, double world champion, started as the great favorite, along with the current silver medalist, Ashleig Gentle, the New Zealand Andrea Hewitt, in addition to the American block with Katie Zaferes and Summer Cook and the British block with Learmonth, Holland and Standford . The test that was disputed on sprint distance, began at 12:36 Spanish time with Carolina Routier as the only representative of our country.

The first to get out of the water was Jessica Learmonth with Flora Duffy and Summer Cook. Carolina Routier, one of the best swimmers on the circuit last year, started 7 seconds behind the head of the race.

The cycling circuit, where it was already seen in the men's event, was technical and with several falls due to rain and the asphalt of the Flora Duffy formula circuit that was in the lead suffered a fall in the passage through the tunnel on the first lap that it made withdraw from the test. Another of the favorites the North American Summer Cook also withdrew during the test. After Duffy's withdrawal, a 9-unit lead group was formed with Kasper, Learmonth, Zaferes followed by another group consisting of Carol Routier, Standford, Andrea Hewitt and Vicky Holland 23 seconds ahead of the race. Finally a group of 2 with Kasper, Learmonth, Klamer arrived at T6 with a 50 second advantage over Routier's group with Andrea Hewitt

In the first few meters of the foot race, a group was formed with Kasper, Learmonth, Klamer and Van Coervorden that stayed together until the last kilometer where Learmonth, Klamer left alone to contest the victory.

Finally the victory has been for Rachel Klamer with a time of 1:00:43 followed by Jessica Learmonth (1:00:57). Third position had to be decided by Photo Finish as Natalie Van Coevorden and Kirsten Kasper arrived in a tight sprint.  Carolina Routier has finished in the 17ª position
