At what rates and speeds do you compete in the Triathlon World Series?

After the WTS dispute in Leeds we analyzed the best times in each segment of the 5 WTS so far (Abu Dhabi, Gold Coast, Cape Town, Yokohama and Leeds) so that our readers know the rhythms and speeds to which the triathletes compete in the best races in the world.

Sprint Distance

We will start with Sprint distance, the only WTS of this distance that has been contested so far. In Cape Town the best swimmer was Richard Varga (8'54 '' at 1'11 '' / 100m), the German Justus Nieschlag was the fastest on two wheels (20km at 41,1km / h) and in the race on foot the best was Mario Mola (14'24 '' at an average of 2'53 '' / km).

In the women's category, the Bermuda triathlete Flora Duffy was the best in the water (8'55 '' to 1'11 '' / 100m), in Swedish Amanda Bohlin covered the 20km at an average of 37,1km / h and in the race On foot the British Non Standford was the fastest, 16'18 '' making an average of 3'16 '' / km.

Olympic Distance

In the four WTS Olympic distance, after analyzing the times of the sectors in the four races the average of the times has been the following. In the male category, the fastest average time is 17'28 '' that is, at a rate of 1'10 '' / 100m. In the 40km of cycling the best guys "fly" to almost 42km / h and in the foot race, the average of the four best times is from 30'26 '' to 3'03 '' / km.

In the women's competition the average swim time is from 19'17 '' to an average of 1'17 '' / 100m. The best cycling 40km complete them at an average of almost 37km / h and the race on foot at 33'45 '', that is, the 10000km run at an average of 3'23 '' / km.

We must say that in triathlon the distances are not 100% homologated, and often the segments are "short" or "long", but the objective of this article was only to guide readers to get an idea of ​​the rhythms and speeds to which it is competed.

As a curiosity to say that in the 5 WTS disputed to date, the best swimmer and cyclist has never managed to win later in the competition. While the best runner and runner have always won, except the WTS of Leeds in the men's category, where Noya was 4º and the WTS of Cape Town where Mola was also 4º, both being the best runners and in the female category only in the WTS of Gold Coast, the best runner, Gwen Jorgensen could not take the victory.

Finally, mention Jorgesen and Mola who have always been the fastest in the race on foot in the competitions they have played in this 2016.
