Seventh edition Ocean Lava Arrecife-Lanzarote Triathlon

Arrecife will once again be the nerve center of Ocean Lava in a seventh edition that will feature the Olympic and medium distances

There is little more than a month left and the final touches of the Ocean Lava Arrecife-Lanzarote Triathlon. A test that reaches its seventh edition and that continues to grow in participation and expectation, due to the quality of the last editions made on the island, and even in previous years has been chosen as a scoring test for the Spanish Championship

The next October 16, Arrecife and Lanzarote will be a hotbed of triathletes and those who will participate in the two modalities of the VII Ocean Lava Arrecife-Lanzarote Triathlon. A seventh edition that will have the Olympic and middle distances, participants struggling to place their name next to the historical winners and that they look in the Canary Islands Park next to the photos of the champions of the previous editions.

The medium distance mode will consist of a distance of 1.900 meters by swimming, 90 kilometers of bike segment and 20 kilometers of running. For its part, the Olympic modality will have a course of 1.500 meters by swimming, 45 kilometers of bicycle and 10 kilometers of running. The start and the finish line will be located in Arrecife, and the middle distance triathletes will have to overcome the always feared Femés ramps.

The Ocean Lava Arrecife-Lanzarote Triathlon can be carried out individually or by teams, both in the Olympic modality and in the middle distance. Registration is open and can be done through the official website of the event - www.oceanlava.com -. To date, more than 200 triathletes have confirmed their participation and it is expected by the organizers to double these figures before the closing of the registrations.

The test, more international than ever, already has the confirmation of triathletes from countries as distant as Cuba, China, the United States, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, India or Japan. Without forgetting the triathletes of the traditional countries like Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, Norway or Denmark. Undoubtedly, a magnificent tourist promotion of Lanzarote and the capital of the island, with 40 participants from different nationalities.

Participants in the Ocean Lava Arrecife-Lanzarote Triathlon do so for different reasons, either as overcoming or to overcome in general or in their age group. One of the peculiarities of the Ocean Lava Arrecife-Lanzarote Triathlon is that the prizes for the age groups are not made by ranges of five years, but by age fulfilled. Thus, each age has its winner and winner, and so far Gonzalo Escrivá is the youngest participant with 18 years and the British Brian Mulholland the oldest with 63 years.

For this reason, the Ocean Lava Arrecife-Lanzarote Triathlon is different from other triathlons. Professional triathlons such as Víctor Manuel González (with a victory in his record), Lucy Biddlestone or Frederick Van Lierde (winner of the Hawaii Ironman), mingle with local triathletes such as Eugenio Guardiola, Robert Mitchell or Pedro Benasco. All in search of a medal or simply to become finishers of the seventh edition of the Ocean Lava Arrecife-Lanzarote Triathlon.

And it is that Ocean Lava, brand born in Lanzarote and with identity of the island where the sea and volcanoes combine in this unique sporting event in the world, continues to grow. This year triathlons were held under the name of Ocean Lava in countries such as Holland, Wales, Malta or Montenegro, exporting the name of Lanzarote internationally, together with its geographical and physical peculiarities.
