José María Merchán and Maria Pujol win the ŠKODA Triathlon Series Sevilla

The third edition of the Triathlon Port of Seville, second under the umbrella of the ŠKODA Triathlon Series, has been a success both for participation and public.

 

They say that good wine improves with age. And something similar happens to José María Merchán. The Spaniard has won the victory in Triathlon Port of Seville, sixth circuit test ŠKODA Triathlon Series, in the Olympic distance. He participated in the Olympic Games of Sidney'00, and already retired of the professional sport, now the triathlete adds this test to his important list of winners.

The third edition of the Triathlon Port of Seville, second under the umbrella of the ŠKODA Triathlon Series, has been a success both for participation and public. At the 10h25 there was the start in the CEAR of Rowing and Canoeing to the 1500 participants in the different modalities. Merchán left the waters of the Guadalquivir River in the first positions. And already in the bicycle sector, which has run through the Isla de la Cartuja, would climb to the head of the race. It was in the 10 final kilometers of the race on foot where the Sevillian really marked the differences, reaching the finish line with a time of 1h54'58 ''. Antonio Ostos, to almost 3 minutes and Alberto Carmona, to 5 minutes of the winner, completed the podium. Merchán, who already climbed the box last year as a third, now rises to the top as the winner of the test.

In the feminine category, the victory has been for the also Sevillian María Pujol, with a time of 2h00'22 ''. First woman and fourth in the general, always ahead. 

Sprint Distance

In the sprint distance, the first to cross in the men's category the goal has been Daniel Pérez Martínez, with a time of 01h01'54 ''. He has taken a small advantage to the second, Ángel Martín, of 16 seconds; and 40 to the third Fran Perales.

In addition to the Olympic and the sprint, the Triathlon Port of Seville has offered proposals for all types of participants, such as the supersprint, the relays or the triathlon of equality.

After the Seville test, the circuit will travel next week to Getxo, then Málaga, Gijón to finally finish in Gavá the October 25.
