Tamara Gómez Spanish Triathlon Champion in Altafulla

He has achieved the triumph in an exciting test.

 

Today the women's event has been contested in the town of Altafulla Spanish Triathlon Championship where some of the best athletes of the modality have fought for victory.

The race was disputed over Olympic distance, 1.500 meters of swimming, 40 km of cycling and 10 km of running.

The first to get out of the water was Sara Pérez, closely followed by Inés Santiago and Laura Montes who started the cycling sector in the lead. In the absence of 2 laps to leave the bike, a group formed by  Anna Godoy, Melina Alonso, Sara Perez, Tamara Gómez and Inés Santiago arriving at T2 with a few seconds ahead of the chasing group of about 20 units.

From the beginning of the foot race Anna Godoy and Tamara Gómez set a strong rhythm, leaving in the lead, while Joselyn Brea from behind tried to hunt down the Galician Melina Alonso.

In an exciting duel for victory where finally Tamara Gómez (2: 10: 47) left in the final meters getting the victory and the Championship of Spain, while  Joselyn Brea (2:11:41) with a spectacular comeback he got the second final place. Anna Godoy (2: 13: 18) entered in third final position
