Sarah True wins victory at the Stockholm Triathlon World Series

Stockholm has hosted this August 22 the third-to-last stage of the ITU Triathlon World Series in the female category. A round in which the Spanish Tamara Gómez it has been classified in the Top-25 of a demanding competition.

The swimming segment has been developed over two laps: a first of 1000 m and a second of 500 m. Carolina Routier, a great specialist in this section, has occupied the first places together with the Americans Katie Zaferes and Sarah True. The three have excelled in this initial third, obtaining at the conclusion of these 1500 m of swim a good advantage over the rest of the opponents. For their part, the other two Spanish women in the running, Tamara Gómez and Miriam Casillas, have left further behind, at a considerable distance from the leading trio and have had to fight to climb positions.

At the end of the first transition, immersed in the first moments of the nine laps, the US duo has increased the pace with Routier losing his wake, remaining third until Flora Duffy has overtaken her, advancing to the first places. Subsequently, the Banyoles triathlete was established in the first pursuer platoon, later joining a second block that also included Tamara Gómez.

The front trio would be reached by the first pursuer group and despite some attempts to escape, after 40 km cyclists through the central streets of the Swedish capital, fifteen triathletes have agreed to the second transition together. On his way out, a group of about ten contenders was formed, among which Sarah True stood out in the first meters. The American has maintained a hard duel with the New Zealand triathlete, Andrea Hewitt, during the first half of the course. Soon after, True has accelerated the pace to distance himself from Hewitt who would enter into contention with Zaferes for second place.

An intense ending, in which True has won the victory in the Swedish capital for the second year in a row. The silver medal has been for his compatriot Zaferes after a final fight with the third classified, Hewitt.

For her part, the triathlete from Elche Tamara Gómez, has stood out with a commendable staging during the foot race, in which she has been climbing positions, climbing positions until finally qualifying in 21st place. A good progression over the course of these final 10000 m, to enter the Top-25 of this disputed competition.

For its part, Carolina Routier has reached the 32º position, after being left off the first places during the cycle. As long as Miriam Casillas has had a discreet performance, ending in 37ª position.
