Tamara Gómez and Nan Oliveras are proclaimed Spanish Triathlon Champions in Altafulla

Two explosive race segments have been decisive to proclaim Tamara Gómez and Nan Oliveras champions of their respective elite categories.

 

Altafulla received spectacular and disputed competitions yesterday in the Spanish Triathlon Championship in elite categories feminine y Male.

In the male category, Víctor Benages dominated swimming. In the cycling section, a group of 15 triathletes including some of the big favorites to the final triumph would be established at the head during the entire cyclist segment.

After entering T2, David Castro started in first place after a great start. The dispute in the foot race would be exciting with great runners fighting for the medals. Nan Oliveras would command the segment from the second round, to get to Altafulla. David Castro would be a silver medal and Uxio Abuin would sign the bronze medal.

In females, Sara Pérez led the two swimming laps, followed by Anna Godoy, Inés Santiago and Laura Paola Montes. At the beginning of the cycling segment, a front group of four was formed with Pérez, Godoy, Melina Alonso and Tamara Gómez. This leading quartet would lead the demanding and spectacular cycling sector. Six laps that took the triathletes to the historic center of the Tarragona city, including an arduous and technical climb of 1 km with 10%, which reached the vicinity of the town's castle.

At the exit of the T2, Melina Alonso and Anna Godoy took off in the lead to start the three laps of the running race. Soon, Tamara Gómez managed to hook and while Alonso was left behind, the Elche and Godoy began an intense duel in the head. Later, Gomez took the reins and escaped alone and after a brilliant race on foot he won the title of this edition 2015.

For its part, the Venezuelan Joselyn Brea entered the finish line in second place in the general standings. Behind, Anna Godoy obtained the runner-up and Anna Flaquer closed the podium in third position.
