The first edition of the Madrid Triathlon KM0 begins

Triathlon Madrid KM0 is the first long-distance triathlon that ends at Puerta del Sol in the city of Madrid

 

 

At the 7: 51 in the morning, the horn sounded for the participants in the elite category where triathletes of the stature of Alejandro Santamaría, Gustavo Rodríguez, Diego Paredes o Hector Guerra among others.

 

The triathletes will have to face the 3,8 km of swimming in the reservoir of Rio Sequillo in Buitrago de Lozoya, to continue with 180 km of cycling, climbing the ports of Morcuera, Guadarrama, Canencia and Cotos to finish with 42 km of race to foot in Madrid River with end in the KM0 of Puerta del Sol in the city of Madrid.

 

The first one to get out of the water was the alcalaino triathlete Dani Múgica, followed by 2 minutes by a group led by David Gonzalez, Alberto Codinach, Gustavo Rodriguez, Diego Paredes and Héctor Guerra among others. Alejandro Santamaría was a little behind less than 4 minutes at the head of the race.

 

In the female category the first triathlete was Kathrin Wlather followed by 2 seconds by Helena Herreo followed by Madrid's Eva Valero and Julia Bonh.

 

Quickly the triathletes marched for the bike to travel the 180 km of route through the Sierra de Madrid where Héctor Guerra, one of the favorites, imposed a strong rhythm that allowed him to reach the head of the race and pass through the first port of Canencia in head, followed by Dani Múgica. Behind Gustavo Rodriguez was getting better and better and was cutting differences.

 

For the passage through La Morcuera, Héctor Guerra was still in the lead, followed by Dani Múgica to 4 minutes and Gustavo Rodríguez closer to Madrid. Diego Paredes passed in fourth position over 9 minutes away from the ticket.

 

Already in Madrid, the first to arrive at the T2 was Héctor Guerra, to celebrate the 42 km of the race on foot. the second to finish the bicycle sector was Duego Paredes followed by Gustavo Rodríguez

In the women's category, everything points to a duel between Kathrin Wlather and Julia Bonh that by the passage of the Morcuera were very close with 9 minutes ahead of Helena Herrero
