José Luis García Serrano wins the gold medal at the ITU Paratriathlon Event in Rio

On the whole the Spanish paratriathletes have offered a good performance at the headquarters that will see the debut of the paratriathlon in some Games

 

The Spanish paratriathlete José Luis García Serrano has won along with his guide Francisco Nieva the gold medal in the male PT5 category at the ITU Paratriathlon Event held this Saturday in Rio de Janeiro. Paralympics within a year.

García Serrano, accompanied by his guide Fran Nieva, has dominated the entire competition from the beginning. Leaving at the head of the swim and settling up front during the rest of the competition to cross the finish line and win the victory. After the Spanish duo, Brandon Adame (USA) and his guide have climbed to the second step of the podium.

In female PT2 Rakel Mateo has agreed to a meritorious fourth place Ahead, American athletes have taken the podium: Hailey Danisewicz, Melissa Stockwell and Allysa Seely have led the top three positions in the category.

As long as Susana Rodríguez and her guide Mayalen Noriega have also been classified in fourth position, after an intense dispute for the bronze medal with the American Patricia Walsh and her guide. Finally, Walsh would take the third metal at stake, on a podium with clear British color, with Alison Patrick rising to gold and Melissa Reid getting the silver medal.

In the male categories, Jairo Ruiz he achieved fifth place and Toni Franco it concluded its participation in 13ª place, diminished by the physical problems that dragged. The German Martin Schulz has obtained the victory, followed by the Canadian Stefan Daniel and the French Yannick Bourseaux; second and third respectively.

The paratriathletes have faced a first swim sector of a lap of 750 m by the waters of Copacabana beach, followed by three laps of 6,88 km by a cyclist circuit. Finally, a final route of 5 km of running on foot through the streets adjacent to the mythical Plaza de Copacabana.

The Spanish representatives have performed at a high level in the second scoring round for the classification of the JJ.PP. of Rio 2016.
