Triathletes save two young people from drowning in the Ironman 70.3

As they ran they saw two young people being dragged by the current.

As reported by the newspaper the world, on Sunday two triathletes who participated in the Ironman 70.3 in South Africa, saw while they were in the running sector on foot, two young people who were being dragged by the current on the East London coast.

It was a referee, Ross Murray, 21, an engineering student, who took the initiative. He got off his bike, climbed a wall and jumped into the sea in his underwear to carry out the rescue, 30 meters from the coast.

The athletes were Martin Potgieter, 37 years, and Dylan Hartwig of 21 feared that the young people would grab Murray and submerge him, so they decided to help him, according to the AP. "We managed to push him little by little to get him to the coast," said Potgieter, who heard the cries for help when he ran.

With the rescue the athletes lost between 15 and 20 minutes, but after putting the youngsters safe, they put on their shoes and finished the test. Hartwig in seven hours and 15 minutes; Potgieter in six hours 50 minutes.
