The Belgian Van Cleven, for the third time, and the Austrian Lisi Gruber, winners of the Triathlon of Portocolom 2017

The Belgian Michael Van Cleven has made history today by achieving his third consecutive victory in the Portocolom Triathlon after a new exhibition.

 

The Austrian Lisi Gruber has been the female winner of the distance 111 imposing itself with enough authority on its rivals in a fast-paced morning that has meant the start of the triathlon season at European level. The Austrian Thomas Steger and the German Diana Riesler, were the winners of the short distance (55.5). Almost 1.000 triathletes have competed this morning in one of the first big dates of the year. 

El Portocolom Triathlon has celebrated its twentieth anniversary with a historic milestone, such as the victory for the third consecutive year of the Belgian Michael Van Cleven, who has once again demonstrated that the 111 format and the route are perfect for their conditions. The Belgian managed to overcome from the second to the first position after the first round of the cycling segment to the demanding route that climbs to Sant Salvador.

The local Carlos Lopez was the first to leave the water, but had some mechanical problems and gave way to the push of Van Cleven, who since then took the lead to cross running on foot (3h34: 31) the goal located in the Club Nautic de Portocolom , improving his previous time in 7 minutes. The Belgian Timothy Van Houtem he was second, and the German Stefan Schmid, third, in the 111 format (1 km of swimming, 100 km of cycling and 10 km of foot race).

In the female category the Austrian Lisi Gruber He finally won with the victory after also dominating the competition from start to finish in 4h09: 22. The Germans Jenny Schulz y Steffi Jansen they were second and third in goal, respectively, with 4h25: 38 and 4h26: 13.

El Triathlon by Portocolom 55.5 It was very exciting in the men's category, with victory for the young Austrian Thomas Steger, followed by Marküs Hörmann, second, and Julian Fritzenschaft. The Balearic Lucas Mola, brother of the ITU test champion Mario Mola, could not reissue his 2016 triumph and was finally fourth in the finish line. In the female category, the German Diana RieslerIt did not overwhelm its rivals with a comfortable triumph. The Mexican Michelle Flipo and the Austrian Lisa-Maria Dornauer they were second and third, respectively.
