Former F1 driver Alex Zanardi, serious after suffering a crash in a race

The Italian is in serious condition after having undergone surgery for three hours

According to the reason, Alex Zanardi he is admitted in serious condition after having suffered an accident in a race.

Zanardi was participating in the “Tricolor Goal” handbike race for Paralympic athletes when he lost control of his bike and crashed into a truck.

After 3-hour neurosurgical and maxillofacial surgery, Le Scotte Hospital in Siena reports that Alex Zanardi was transferred to intensive care and his health is in poor condition.

The next 48 hours will be crucial, all the good vibes for the Italian.

The 1-year-old former F53 driver was evacuated by helicopter to the hospital where he underwent surgery for the multiple fractures he suffers.

Zanardi suffered the amputation of both legs in 2001 after an accident in a car race.

After a few years, he resumed sports activity and was a medalist in the 2012 Paralympic Games in hand cycling.
