They arrest a driver who fled after hitting a cyclist for pointing the license plate in the sand

The owner of the vehicle hid the car and tried to deceive the agents

According to the newspaper ABC, the Civil Traffic Guard has arrested the alleged driver of the I ran over a cyclist in Nijar (Almería) who was seriously injured after impact.

The data provided by the cyclist facilitated the identification of the vehicle that collided with the bicycle on October 20.

From the study and analysis of the data provided, a Volkswagen Golf was identified and based on this data, a control and verification of the vehicles that, with these characteristics, habitually circulated in the area was carried out.

The car was hidden

The agents managed to find the alleged vehicle involved, which was in a farmhouse attached to the owner's home hidden under plastics and fixtures, verifying that the damage it presented coincided with the development of the accident.

Furthermore, it was found that, at the time of the events, lacked mandatory insurance and had not passed the technical inspection of vehicles (ITV).

The driver tried to fool the agents again

The owner of the vehicle, after being located acknowledged the facts although he tried to "mislead investigators" al show another vehicle of similar characteristics with insurance and valid ITV owned by a relative, but which did not present any damage compatible with the circumstances of the accident.

Given the evidence obtained, he was arrested, at the intervention of the vehicle involved  and the preparation of the appropriate proceedings, which were made available to the Investigating Court number 3 of Almería.
