Movistar presents Movistar Virtual Cycling, a revolutionary virtual cycling competition at the hands of Bkool

 Telefónica takes another step forward in its commitment to cycling and innovation by creating Movistar Virtual Cycling, an international virtual cycling competition.

Movistar Virtual Cycling he is an innovator virtual cycling project that will start in April and will feature online qualifying phases and a grand final in Madrid

The championship was presented this morning at the press conference of the Movistar Team, with the big stars of the team, just before starting the Tour Colombia 2.1

Yesterday the initiative was presented at the press conference offered by the Movistar Team with Nairo Quintana y Eusebio Unzué, just before starting the Tour de Colombia, which starts today in Medellín.

Virtual cycling is a discipline that has more and more prominence among fans of this sport. To carry out the project, the company has partnered with the indoor cycling platform Bkool. The software developed by Bkool, allows the user to train and compete with his bike from his own home, connecting his roller to a device and participating in online routes and competitions. The simulator allows to recreate, in a realistic way, the conditions of the route and the competition: distance, unevenness during the route, power developed by each cyclist, rifts, landscape, orography or the same meteorology.

The April 1 start date

Movistar Virtual Cycling will start the 1 in April combining several online qualifying phases and presences, which will coincide with the most iconic moments of the cycling season. The participants must measure their rivals in Real 100% stages, which faithfully represent the routes on which the World Tour events are held.

The winners of the qualifying events will access thes world finals to be played in Festibike, the International Bicycle Fair that will take place in the locality of Las Rozas in Madrid on 13, 14 and 15 days in September.

The competition will be reserved for two categories, male and female. The participation will be completely free and the inscriptions will be processed through the official website movistarvirtualcycling.com where they will be registered directly on the indoor cycling platform Bkool. This initiative is endowed with important prizes, together with other incentives and actions aimed at Movistar customers.

Unzué defined this project as "Hopeful and a good opportunity for cycling to continue evolving and adapting to new technologies"

On the other hand, Quintana considered of great importance a competition of these characteristics: "a good news for the fans of the cycling that want to emulate the professional cyclists and important that Movistar presents this initiative in Colombia".

Guillermo Rodríguez Herrá (responsible for the sponsorship of cycling at Telefónica) highlighted the revolutionary nature of Movistar's bid, in an initiative that activates a strategic sponsorship such as cycling in such natural areas for the company, such as technological innovation and connectivity
