Tour de France champions meet at the 2024 Ibiza Cycling Tour

The 2024 Campagnolo Vuelta Cicloturista a Ibiza will be remembered as one of the most historic editions. For the first time, the six Spanish winners of the Tour de France will ride together in an unprecedented event.

Miguel Indurain, Carlos Tailor, Óscar Pereiro, Pedro Delgado, Alberto counter y Joane Somarriba will meet on the roads of Ibiza to take part in this great cycling event.

The event, which will celebrate its XXI edition, has established itself as one of the most important within the calendar cycle tourist, and this year it has once again broken records in terms of participation.

With more than 114 women registered, compared to 34 in 2019, and a significant increase in the number of adapted cyclists, this edition surpasses all the milestones set in the previous year.

Notable entrants include the 2024 Paralympic team, led by the unrivaled Ricardo Ten.

A tribute to the legends of Spanish cycling

The participation of the Spanish winners of the Tour de France adds a special character to this edition.

The event organizer, Juanjo Planells, expressed his enthusiasm: “It's going to be historic for many reasons, but above all because of the presence of our Tour champions. On Saturday at the start we will pay tribute to them and to the two who are no longer with us. It's going to be a very emotional day.".

Among the protagonists, stands out Miguel Indurain, winner of five consecutive Tours (1991-1995) and two Giros d'Italia.

They follow him Carlos Tailor, who won the Tour in 2008; Óscar Pereiro, remembered for his victory in 2006 after the disqualification of Floyd Landis; Pedro Delgado, winner of the 1988 Tour; and Alberto counter, one of the most complete cyclists, with two victories in the Tour (2007, 2009) and three in the Vuelta a España.

All of them will be joined by the iconic Joane Somarriba, three-time winner of the women's Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia.

Institutional and sponsor support

The Ibiza Cycling Tour would not be possible without the support of local institutions and sponsors.

Representatives of Ibiza's five town councils and companies such as Trasmed were present at the official presentation, held in the Plaza de la Iglesia de Sant Agustí, in Sant Josep.

The director of Institutional Relations of the Grimaldi Group in Spain, Miguel Pardo, he stressed: “The poster for the Ibiza Cycling Tour is a luxury. The island is already a sports destination, not just a place of sun and beach.".

Furthermore, the participation of Hi Ibiza and other sponsors reaffirms the commitment to the de-seasonalisation of tourism, promoting sporting events outside the summer months, as explained by the councillor Salvador Losa.

A solidarity and sustainable event

In addition to its sporting relevance, the Vuelta Cicloturista a Ibiza reinforces its commitment to sustainability and solidarity.

During November and December, educational talks will be held in schools on the importance of respecting the environment when practicing sports.

The charity Affares will also be present at the event to raise awareness about invisible illnesses such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

This year, the event also includes the first edition of the Parrot Brothers Junior Cycling Tour of Ibiza, with the participation of young cyclists who will have the opportunity to take part in this historic event.
