2 months for the IRONMAN 70.3 Cascais

Next Sunday 29 of September will be the second edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Cascais and with a great Spanish presence, since it is the second country with the most participation to date. This year it is expected to reach the number of 3.000 registered in the test.

Last year they participated more than 400 Spanish triathletes, becoming the test with more presence outside our country with an 13,6% of those currently enrolled

El IRONMAN 70.3 Cascais has been chosen in a survey conducted by IRONMAN as the best test in the Satisfaction category , scoring it 3,5% above the average of the other tests of the franchise.

The aspects most praised by the participants were the tours, the conditions of fullfilment of security requirements on the road, the refreshment stations in competition and the gifts to the athletes. The Exhibitors event partners and the beauty of Cascais, the host village, were also arguments presented.

In 2018 the Portuguese event registered only 4% of dropouts, which is also below the world average.

Clubs will have their own competition, the IRONMAN TriClub

IRONMAN TriClub is a parallel competition to the individual where your club athletes will score points to get qualification for the 2020 Club European Championship. This year will be held in Jönköping .

Last year with more than 72 nations represented, the club with the most members was Estoril Praia, which is also a local soccer club of the Portuguese second division.

The “King and Queen of the Mountain” award to the best climbers

As the last edition has already started, the first to crown the section between the Mula river dam and Quinta do Pisão , between km 68.67 and 74.55 They will receive the King and Queen of the Mountain award.

The IRONMAN 70.3 Cascais has been part of the world circuit since the year 2017, with two consecutive full. Spain is one of the countries with more representation, where last year Fernando Alarza got the victory and its classification for the Ironman World Championship 70.3 this year.
