3.000 triathletes will participate in the Ironman Barcelona

Miquel Blanchart and Judith Corachan our strengths in the test, in the fastest Ironman in Spain where it has been able to get off the 8 hours.

This weekend Calella will again host, a year, a star event of the calendar as is the IRONMAN Barcelona. It will be on Saturday 30 of September, with practically 3.000 participants, again with the registrations sold out for months and with 1.000 volunteers.

With the presence of Spanish 430, it is the second country with the most participation. An international event where the great majority of triathletes come from abroad, specifically from Great Britain, Ireland, Russia and France as the most represented countries. The passion that lives Calella with the brand IRONMAN is unsurpassed and nothing will affect the change in date announced by the test a few months ago.

IRONMAN Barcelona will start on Thursday with the press conference of the professional triathletes and the welcome party. On Friday it will be the turn of the briefings and the bicycle check-in and, on Saturday, the big day. The first of the exits, of the professional triathletes, will be at the 8: 08 in the morning in the Platja Gran. Ahead, a long day of excitement until the arrival of the winner, scheduled for the 16: 30 in the afternoon, approximately.

For Sunday there will be two multitudinous events that always put the icing on IRONMAN Barcelona. The first is IRONKIDS, which concentrates hundreds of small athletes who also have their role. And, right after, the Iron Girl, where a good number of women complete 5 kilometers of running race on foot. The traditional award ceremony will close the event.

The triathletes will face a circuit of 3,8 kilometers of swimming, 180 of cycling and 42,2 on foot. The cyclist section, two and a half laps and very fast, runs along the sea from Calella to Montgat. Finally, the triathletes will also run from Calella to Santa Susanna, and will make three laps to complete the marathon.

Professionals

Regarding the elite, in the male category  Miquel Blanchart will try to improve the third place last year. Among its most prominent rivals, figures such as Joe Skipper, Horst Reichel, Ritchie Nicholls y Bas Diederen. Clemente Alonso who was enrolled in the test will eventually not participate

 In women, Judith Corachán will be one of the main protagonists since in Calella he will make his long distance debut. Share starting line with the Dutch Yvonne Van Vlerken, winner of the 2015 test, as well as Lisa Huetthaler y Daniela Sämmler, Among others.

 Triathletes that will try to overcome the current records established in Calella. The masculine, in the hands of Patrik Nilsson, who flew last year with 7h 55'28. The feminine, achieved by Yvonne Van Vlerken in 2015 with 8h 46'44.
