3.800 triathletes in the VIII edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Mallorca
The Ironman 70.3 Mallorca is the most crowded in the world in its category.
May 12 is the date marked in the calendar to enjoy the HOMBRE DE HIERRO 70.3 largest in the world, the IRONMAN 70.3 Mallorca. The Balearic island, one of the more paradises to enjoy the sport, gathers every year a large number of cyclists and triathletes. And the IRONMAN 70.3 Mallorca is the best excuse to enjoy triathlon in company.
The magic of Alcúdia and its countless corners cause that many triathletes decide to repeat, and cross the dreamed goal line again. Neither more nor less than 3.800 are the triathletes that they manage to create a special atmosphere, unique in the IRONMAN calendar of the whole world.
In this edition, the organization has proposed some improvements that seek to make the experience of the triathlete more satisfactory and unforgettable. For example, a transition in asphalt, which as in 2016, returns to the Carretera d'Artà, and will be wider and more covered, synonymous with greater comfort. All the action will be concentrated in the Alcúdia Beach, so that the triathletes feel more sheltered by their relatives, friends and followers. The design of the backpacks, medals and t-shirts of the athletes is also renewed and a new formula will be discovered in the finish area, designed to create even more spectacle.
The waters of Alcúdia will be responsible for opening the competition this coming Sunday with 1.900 meters of swimming, followed by 90 kilometers of demanding cycling, with mountain passes and stretches of great visual beauty. Again back to Alcúdia, the Promenade and the city center will be the scene of the last 21 kilometers of running before facing the final straight to the finish line.
To complement the party, the race will be accompanied by the always-awaited IRONKIDS, which has the little ones as the main protagonists and which will take place on Friday. The following day, it will be the turn of the IRONMAN 70.3 Mallorca, which will continue once the triathletes cross the finish line with a party on the beach, at 20pm, for runners, volunteers and the organization. And then on Sunday, the awards ceremony at 11am and distribution of the slots, which will give 50 athletes the opportunity to compete in the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in South Africa.
