How does Javier Gómez Noya acclimate to the Ironman of Hawaii?

The Galician already knows from the outside what is this Ironman, since he has been twice as a spectator, but for his debut as a participant and also aspiring to victory, he wanted to travel with time to the island to acclimatize well

After the long trip from Madrid started on Friday 20 September with a stopover in Los Angeles, Javier Gómez Noya (who is accompanied by his New Zealand partner Anneke Jenkins, his coach Carlos David Prieto and his physio the elite ex-athlete Óscar Vicente) arrived without problems on the big island of Hawaii to be able to acclimatise properly for two weeks and train in the courses he will face on Saturday 13 for October.

The Galician already knows from the outside what is this Ironman, since he has been twice as a spectator, but for his debut as a participant and also aspiring to victory, that period of two weeks was necessary.

They are housed about eight kilometers along the coast south of the point of departure and goal, ideal to have the routes to the side but with some tranquility to not be in the heart of the nerve center.

The training he is doing now is not to improve his level, but simply to go to the rhythm of competition in parts of the course: "The first days were very mild, to adapt to the time change. Already at the end of the week I have done longer sessions with some section at a good pace but without reaching the distances of the Ironman.

By bike three and a half hours on Wednesday has been the longest I do on Wednesday and running I want to do about 24 kilometers on Friday of this week.

From there until Tuesday I will do quiet sessions with some intensity; and since Wednesday will simply be moving the body without forcing, to get well rested to Saturday".

So he has not done that running session of eight repetitions of a kilometer to 2'50 " each one that has circulated through social networks. It was a joke by Sebastian Kienle to chop Lionel Sanders and Patrick Lange; doing that would be counterproductive before an Ironman but many people, even some web pages among which Triathlon News is not found, believed it and published it.

In the week prior to the Ironman you will also have to comply with the usual press commitments, sponsors (for example, the world presentation of the bike you will be using, the latest version of the "goat" Specialized Shiv, with which you have already been training ) and acts of the organization, something to which he is accustomed of so many other triathlons, but that in Hawaii taking into account the expectation that there is by his debut they are going to have great repercussion.
