We reviewed the changes in the Ironman competition regulations

The ITU and the Ironman franchise signed an agreement last month to unify criteria in the medium and long distance tests, which are already reflecting some changes in the regulations.

This year some small changes have been made in the regulation that we expose next:

Penalty for yellow Cards

It happens to be a Stop and Go, to be 1 minute of obligatory stop that will be carried out in the shop of penalizations of the sector of cycling or of race on foot.

Disc brakes

This season is allowed the use of disc brakes in all non-drafting tests including ironman and ironman 70.3 tests

Naked torsos equipment

It is forbidden to compete with the naked torso on the bike and in the running race, although now there is also the prohibition of competing with a shirt / tritraje with a frontal zip below the sternum with the possibility of disqualifying the race.

Cellphones

The use of mobile devices is prohibited, including receiving calls, listening to music, using social networks, taking photos or sending text messages, among others. This may also be cause for a disqualification of the test.

Technological fraud

ITU technology will be used to monitor technological fraud in the Ironman tests, which will allow the location of engines in the frame or on the wheels of the bicycles

The regulation change will be effective from the next 1 e March in all the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 and Europe Africa and America tests, being effective in the rest of the world between the 1 of March and the 1 of July.
