Gurutze Frades fifth in the Ironman of South Africa. Ben Hoffman and Daniela Ryf devastate and take the victory

The victory has been for Ben Hoffman and Daniela Ryf falling by 8 and 9 hours respectively

Male career

With the first rays of the sun at 6:30 o'clock, the start of a new edition of the Ironman in South Africa was given. The swimming was one lap and with wetsuit. The Basque got off the bike 8 ′ behind the surprising leader in T2, the Australian Cameron Wurf, second was the German Niks Frommhold 2 ′ from the head of the race and third Ben Hoffman 1 ′ from the German.

The marathon was going to be the judge of the competition, soon the Australian lost the advantage and was surpassed by Frommhold and Hoffman. At km 15,6 Hoffman was the leader, followed 40" behind Frommhold, David McNamee was in third place, 4' behind, and Kyle Buckingham and James Cunnama by more than 7'.

Finally Ben Hoffman He takes the victory and the direct pass to Kona with a time of 7:58:40 and becomes the first sub 8h triathlete on the African continent. Female career

Daniela Ryf She was the dominator of the test from start to finish, coming out of the water first, leaving alone in the cycling sector to reach T2 with more than 3 minutes of advantage and get the victory with a spectacular time of 8:47: 02 followed by the Finnish Kaisa Lehtonen (8:52:26) in second position and by Susie Cheetham (9:04:48) in third position.

Regarding the Spanish participants Gurutze Frades has managed to finish the test in fifth position, achieving his best partial in swimming, completing the 3,8 km of swimming in 1:00:37, in the 180 km of cycling he reached T2 in 13th position and in a great race at Pie was climbing positions to get the fifth place with a time of 9:24:58. Helena Herreno I did not complete the cyclist sector of the test.
