The Gurutze Frades bike for the Kona Ironman

Guru Frades will be the only Spanish representative in the PRO category at the next Ironman World Championship in Hawaii where she will compete for the second time in a row, being the only Spanish to have done it 2 times with the new KPR classification system.

We have talked with Gurutze Frades who has explained us the bicycle that will take in the Kona world:

The bike that I will use will be the BH GC Aerolight, monocoque carbon frame.

The configuration of the bike will be:

• Developments 54 × 40 and 28 × 11
• Cranks of 155mm with integrated power meter
• Handlebar PRO Missile
• Saddle John Cobb fifty five
• Wheel Zipp (front 303 and rear 808)

There have been some changes compared to last year, he tells us “I have changed my handlebars and the angle of the elbows is more open.

I have also changed the development, where I will use a large 54 dish instead of 52, a small 40 dish instead of 36 and an 11-28 cassette instead of 11-25. The change, fundamentally is to have more development in the flat parts with downward trend. The selected cassette is of the SRAM brand, since there is not so much jump in the sequence of the pinions in the central part.

The last change will be the drums. Last year I had one on the handlebars and one on the frame tube. This year I am going to replace the frame tube with an aero bottle and I have placed a bottle cage on the bike seat. In total I will take 3 drums.”
