Carlos with a great performance today has achieved the necessary points to be in the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, although we will have to wait until the update of the Ranking is published.

Today, the first edition of the Ironman of Hamburg, where the Spanish Carlos López has achieved a magnificent fourth place getting the necessary points to be in Kona (In the absence of update of the Ranking)

The test began at 8 in the morning with the 3,8 km of swimming, as a curiosity to comment that it is done in the same place as the WTS, where Carlos has been the fastest to complete them with a time of 47:38, followed 10 seconds by Hosrt Reichel and 1:40 by Alexander Schilling, James Cunnama and Markus Fachbach

Already in the 180 km of cycling on a flat circuit in the first kilometers a group of 5 units was formed in 10 seconds that lasted until km 90 of the circuit where James Cunnama and Markus Fachbach were distancing the rest. The South African increased their lead to reach T2 with 12 minutes ahead of Markus Fachbach, 15 over Hosrt Reichel and 19 over Carlos Lopez, who was fifth in the transition.

In the 42 km foot race bordering the lakes, James Cunnama He showed that he came to the test in a great state of form and was increasing his advantage to get the victory with a time of 08: 00: 36. The second classified was the German Hosrt Reichel (08: 22: 27) followed by his compatriot Markus Fachbach (08: 22: 27) in third final position.

Carlos Lopez, in a great race on foot was cutting distances on Alexander Schilling who started in fourth position the sector to reach him in the km 13 of race, from there Carlos was consolidating this fourth position and was looking for Hosrt Reichel to whom I had 5 minutes ahead.

Finally, Carlos López he could not fight for the third place but he got a great fourth place that "vritually" leaves him in Kona this year, although we have to wait for the official points cut.

Last July Carlos obtained a meritorious 14 position in the IronMan in Frankfurt that was insufficient to achieve the necessary points, forcing him to compete in Hamburg to try to get a good result. At the expense of what happens next weekend at the Ironman in Kalmar (Sweden) and the IronMan 70.3 in Dublin, the truth is that his fourth place in Hamburg puts his classification very face, waiting for the final confirmation .
