Historic Ironman Barcelona with more than 100 PRO on the starting line

The Ironman Barcelona will have more than 100 triathletes PROS on the starting line and more than 3000 triathletes in total

This Sunday comes one of the most important dates of the national and international calendar, the Ironman Barcelona, a globally consolidated test that fills in registrations within a few weeks of the registration period and where triathletes from all over the world come to compete.

 Just like last year there will be more than 3.000 triathletes on the starting line, with a wide representation of British (more than 550 triathletes), Irish (some 400), Spanish (more than 350) and many other countries will surpass the hundred participants, like French, Germans, Russians or Poles.

The Ironman Barcelona will have its epicenter of the city of Calella, with a swim of 3.800 m in a circuit around the beach in Calella. Later the triathletes will face the 180 km of cycling, giving two laps to a circuit of 90 kilometers that runs practically next to the sea by the NI, except for a small section of round trip, with a rise tended and lowered in the 40 kilometer points and 125 Finally, the marathon also runs parallel to the sea, along the seafront of Calella and the towns of Pineda de Mar and Santa Susanna. The triathletes will give three laps to the circuit until completing the 42,2 km.

As we have previously mentioned, the participation of PROs triathletes will be historic, with more than 100 professionals between men and women.

In men there are 80 registered triathletes. We have been reviewing data from different Ironmans and we have not found any that have had so many PROs in male category registered except in Kona. The test is very open, with triathletes like the Germans Reichel Horst, Per Van Vlerken o Markus Fachbach, the British Harry Wiltshire, the French Etienne Diemunsch or the Italian Jonathan Ciavattella.

On the Spanish side there will be ten representatives, Miquel Blanchart y Albert Moreno the main strengths to fight with the best.

In the female category the Dutch Yvonne FROM Vlerken will be the main candidate for victory, along with the German Laura Philip y Daniela Seammler On the Spanish side there will be two representatives, Sweet Ollé, who makes his long distance debut in the Ironman circuit and Goods Tusell who last year made here in Barcelona one of the best Spanish brands ever.

The test will start on 7 Sunday at the 8: 08 with the male PRO, then the 8: 10 will do the female PRO category and from the 8: 12 the age groups.
