Kenneth Vandendriessche wins for the second consecutive year the International Lanzarote Duathlon and Anne Haug takes the female title flying towards a new record

172 participants participated in the 22ª edition of International Lanzarote Duathlon, where the World Champion Patrick Lange has fired the starting gun. The test began with cloudy skies and light winds, which provided the perfect conditions for all the records to be broken today.

The Belgian athlete Kenneth Vandendriessche defended his title won last year beating his own record in 40 seconds (00:54:49), while in the female category Anne Haug broke the record with a time of 01:00:20.

“Today I went back to my roots,” said Kenneth Vandendriessche. “In the past I was a duathlon, in fact I have managed to be a two-time European champion in duathlon, so this seems natural to me. The race was very fast, but the bike test was tough and windy.” The second place corresponded to the Spanish Emilio Aguayo (00:55:17), runner-up in the last edition of IRONMAN Lanzarote 70.3 followed in third place by the Argentine Leon Martin Drajer [I](07: 00: 55: 40) who also won the award for the best local athlete.

In the women's event the winner has been Anne Haug  followed by the Spanish  María Varo Zubiri (01:02:25) and Sara Pérez Sala, occupying the third final place. (01: 02: 36)
