Gurutze Frades sixth and Eneko Llanos tenth in Ironman South Africa
Peru Alfaro has been eleventh
Today a new edition of the Nelson Mandela Bay has been held Ironman South Africa, the first 4.000 KPR of the season where we had a broad Spanish participation in the professional category with the presence of Eneko Llanos, Peru Alfaro, Gurutze Frades, Saleta Castro, Judith Corachán and Patricia Bueno.
The test started at 6: 30 in the morning with the 3,8 km of swimming where the fastest to get out of the water was Josh Amberger while Peru Alfaro was the second to leave at 1: 48 from the leader. Eneko Llanos came out ninth in 2 minutes from the head of the race.

In the 180 km of cycling Cameron Wurf was climbing positions to be the leader and pass halfway with 2:23 on Amberger. Eneko Llanos climbed 2 positions passing at 5:30 from the head, while Peru Alfaro who suffered a mechanical breakdown under various positions. Finally Cameron Wurf came first to T2 with 7:42 ahead of Josh Amberger and 9:44 over Kyle Buckingham who entered in third position. Eneko Llanos finished sixth, leaving the bike at 9:57 ahead of the race.
In the first 21 km of foot race Eneko Llanos was tracing positions to move fifth to 11 minutes of Wurf and a little more than 3 minutes of Maurice Clavell fourth at that point. Amberger was climbing little by little, passing 5 minutes from Cameron Wurf.
The final part of the test was exciting as we could see how Kyle Buckinghan and Josh Amberger were cutting distance on Wurf until the km 29 managed to reach him, as he had to stop for a discomfort.

Finally the victory was for Kyle Buckinghan, fourth last year, with a time of 8: 13: 00 followed by Josh Amberger (8: 16: 01) and Maurice Clavel (8: 18: 51) occupying the third final position. Eneko Llanos (8: 31: 56) has finished in tenth place while Peru Alfaro (8: 36: 18) has been eleventh

As for the female event, the first to get out of the water was Lucy Charles with a 5:15 lead over Rachel McBride. Saleta Castro came fourth at 8:10 and Judith Corachán fifth at 8:13 behind the leader of the race.
Already on the bike, in the first 90 km of cycling, Lucy Charles continued as the leader with a 9-minute advantage over Rachel McBirde, while Judith Corachán passed in seventh position and Guruzte with a great sector was climbing positions to pass ninth in this point.
Finally Lucy Charles was increasing her lead to reach T2 as leader and with an advantage of 11:29 on McBirde and 12 on the third to get off the bike Susie Cheetham. Gurutze came in eighth and Judith Corachán ninth respectively.
In the race, on foot Lucy Charles He knew how to keep the difference and although he was losing some time during the marathon he got the victory with a time of 8: 56: 06. The second triathlete to reach the finish line was Susie Cheetham (8: 50: 10) and the third Linsey Corbin (9: 07: 10)

As for the Spanish, we could see a beautiful duel between Judith Corachán and Gurutze Frades where Judith went ahead of Guru until km 25 where she overtook her, going to sixth position and looking for Manon Genet who was fifth at that time with a difference of 7 minutes. Finally Gurutze Frades He could not reach it and finished the race in a great sixth position. Saleta Castro has finished in 12ª position, Patricia Bueno in the 14ª while Judith Corachán it seems that he has abandoned the test near the race 30 kilometer.
